Breakers take on #3 Ranked Panathinaikos

The Breakers are hoping for second straight win, but take on a strong Panathinaikos team on their home turf. The match was well played by both squads in the first half with neither team being able to score a goal.

The Breakers began the second half with a strong offensive build up. A. Campanilla provided Bock with an early cross going left to right side of the field. As the ball flew over the CB, Bock was in position to control the ball enough to nudge it under the goalie and have the ball glide through the goal!

Referees took a couple of minutes to discuss the apparent goal by Bock. The play was close as Bock came inches from potentially interfering with the Keeper. However, the replays show that the ball slipped under the Keeper and Bock jumped over the keeper before falling hard. The ball continued rolling into the back of the net!

The referees finally conclude that no interference took place and the goal would stand! As expected an onslaught of boos came from the home crowd!

The Breakers continued to play in a balanced manner and even had an additional couple of build ups that were eventually stopped.

Referees discussed the apparent goal to see if a "no goal" and instead a card against Bock was going to be assessed for Bock interfering with the Keeper, but it appeared to have been a clean shot with the ball rolling under the Keeper and Bock jumping over the Keeper until falling hard next to the net.

The referees finally called the goal and the home town fans booed and hissed as they wanted a card against Bock!

Breakers went up 1-0 at the 47' mark,

The Breakers continued playing a balanced game of football and even had an couple of additional build ups that led to near goals.

Although Panathinaikos had a few shots on goal, none found their way past the keeper and the match ended with the Breakers winning 1-0!

The Breakers now have a 2 game win streak and have played well against top teams in the league! It sure appears that their new 4-3-3 formation has allowed the Breakers opportunities to soar!
