Breakers End Month of September in Shambles

The Breakers will need to regroup and figure out what they need to do to score goals and win matches.

The Breakers are 2-1-3 in League Play and in 13th Place in the league. The Breakers have only scored 3 goals and have given up 4.

The breakers have not scored in their last 4 matches if you include the second leg of the England Cup!

September was a tough month for the Breakers as they were 1-0-3 in league play or 1-0-4 for all matches played (including leg 2 of England Cup).

The only win came against Everton which was a 2-0 win. Both goals from Kirby!

The Breakers have played in both 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 formations. Their change from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 was supposed to provide more offensive opportunites, but ironically this only occured in their first game out of 5 played in the month.

The owner and manager stated that they were "disappointed with their final few matches, but not surprised since the Breakers are a young team and playing in a new league."

Although the fans are disappointed, they realize that the Breakers are playing in the #1 ranked league in the World.

Looking back at August, the Breakers beat Fulham and drew against Sporting in league play. Their winning record continued into the first league match in September, but was quickly erased and forgotten.

It's time to regroup as the season is early and the Breakers primary goal should be to not be relegated back to D2!

Breakers Drop to 6th Place

The Breakers Manager and Coaching staff have been warned by the Barclays Premier League to stop complaining about what may have been a longer "stoppage" time than expected leading to their first loss and goal allowed of the season.

The Premier League was quite strong with their remarks against the newly regulated team in their league. "We expect all league teams to stop raising issues about officiating crew. The officials call the games and the teams must respond in a civil manner."

Breakers Suffer First Defeat!

The Breakers are utterly disappointed with the first and only goal of the match being called at the 90+ mark.. The coach and players yelled for the officials to call the stoppage time with tough midfield play, but the officials allowed play to continue and Aston Villa the home team get a final shot on goal.

Breakers Knocked Out of England Cup

Blackburn defeats the Breakers 1-0 in both legs of the first round of the England Cup.

Although the fans are a bit disappointed, the Owner said that the Barclays League matches are the most important for his young team and that last season they were also knocked out in Round 1.

Santa Cruz Breakers Shock Barclays Premier League!

The Breakers find themselves in third place with a 2-1-0 record defeating Everton 2-0. The football community is stunned!

The last match against Everton was not without controversy as the players, coaching staff, and fans still don't believe what they call a horrible call for the first score/goal by Kirby! The replay appears to show Kirby being off-sides but the officials missing the call and instead taking the early cross for a score!

Although this call may have been questionable, the Breakers still have been dominating the season with stellar defense and not giving up a goal in league play!

Last season it was the Breakers relentless defense that allowed them to "draw" so many matches and come alive at the end of the season to make a run for a top three finish!

The Breakers offense has always struggled with scoring the second lowest amount of goals (28), but being #1 defensively with only allowing 29.

August Ends

The Breakers had a fairly succesful first month of play. They find themselves with a 1-1-0 record in 5th Place. Currently the Breakers would be qualifying for the UEFA Europa League as position 5-7 qualifies for this league and position 1-4 qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Obviously the first 2 league matches of the season tell us very little!

The fans and players are pleased with their start and are excited for the full season to continue after International play in the first week of September.

The shock of the opening 2 weeks in August has to be that the Breakers and Sporting find themselves in the Top 5 spots of the Barclays Premier League.

2010-2011 Breakers Operating Costs

The Breakers have finalized their teams operating costs for the year and find themselves which much costlier and improved coaching, training, and team physician. The Breakers team itself had little changes although over 10 players were offered transfers over the past year and weeks.

The Breakers coaching and owners said that they would do all they could to keep the original players from last season on the team. "It's difficult enough for a team to gel and play as well as we did last season". The owner said "I'm proud of our team and know that making it to the Barclays Premier League will be challenging, but we want our original squad who plays we'll together to be our future!"

Breakers and Sporting End in Familiar Draw

The Breakers played well and both on and off the pitch. Late in the game, the Breakers switched to a more aggresive 4-3-3 formation which they used most of last season to open up a more offensive attack.

The Coach after the game said that they were "open to experimenting with different players and formations against tougher competitiors in Barclays Premier League"...

Although the fans and team want a strong finish, the reality is the Breakers will need to battle hard to even remain in this Premier League.

Santa Cruz Breakers Promoted to Barclays Premier League

The Breakers Inaugural 2009-2010 Season in D2 was an amazing year. The Breakers end the season with a 3rd Place Finish allowing them to be promoted to the esteemed Barclays English Premier League!

The Breakers record was 12-18-4.
Overview of Breakers Stats:

12-18-4 (record)
55 League Points (3rd Place)
28 Goals For
20 Goals Against
8 Goals Differential

Goal Rankings
5th Place in League Play: Chow (11)
9th Place in League Play: Manning (9)

Assist Rankings
5th Place in League Play: Bock (5)
19th Place in League Play: V.Nam (3)

Overview of Season:

The Breakers were knocked out in the first Round of the English Cup by FC Porto. The first of two matches ended in a 0-0 draw and the second ended with FC Porto winning 1-0.

The only 4 league losses came against the following teams:

FC Zenith St. Petersburg (1-2)
Shakhtar Donetsk (3-0)
Shakhtar Donetsk (1-0)
FC Bayern Munchen

Important victories came against:

Sporting (1-0)
SC Internacional (1-0)
FC Zenith St. Petersburg (1-1)

The Breakers season was well played especially when it counted with winning their final 3 matches allowing them to sneak into the Third Spot!

Starting in April with a tough (1-0) loss to FC Bayern Munchen the Breakers went 5-3-1 with big wins against Sporting and SC Internacional.

The Breakers defense allowed the team to stay in most matches and allowed the Breakers to get many more draws than losses. Although their offense struggled most of the season with Chow and Manning combining for 20 out of the 26 goals, the Breakers were able to win just enough matches especially their final 3 months of play and in particular their final 5 matches to move up to the Barclays Premier League.

The following Barclays Premier League 2009-2010 teams will be demoted to D2:

West Ham United 34 points (7-13-16)
Birmingham City 30 points (6-12-18)
Burnley 16 points (4-4-28)

Others on the fringe:
Wolvehampton 34 points (8-10-18)
Fulham 34 points (8-10-18)

Congratulations to the Breakers for an amazing first season and good luck with the promotion!
