The Breakers offensive power began to show itself in their first D2 cup match against Stade Rennais F.C. scoring 3 goals. However Stade Rennais F.C. fought their way back and scored the equalizing goal at the 87' devastating the Breakers home crowd.
Up next for the Breakers was their second league match against Alkmaar Zaanstreek (AZ). AZ is a football club from Alkmaar in the Netherlands.
Both AZ and the Breakers began the match with accurate passing a solid midfield play. A poor officiating call and a great acting job by #18 from AZ allowed them to have a penalty kick against the Breakers.
The call looked clean on the replay with the AZ player tripping over the defender's foot as he kicked the ball away.
The Breakers goal keeper remained focused and composed as he watched the penalty kick sail high and to the right of the goal post. The score remained tied at 0-0.
The first goal of the match was scored by AZ at the 53'. The fans began to grow restless as the match continued with solid shots on goal, but a strong goalkeeper not letting any get in the net.
However, the Breakers had a late build up and Kirby (13) tied the match up 1-1 at the 85'. Neither team were able create an offensive opportunities in the final minutes of the match and the match ended with the 1-1 draw.
The Breakers offense controlled the ball well and dictated the tempo of the match.
While they only had 5 shots on goal, 4 out of 5 were on target! The defense remained solid as they gave up only 4 shots on goal.
AZ left the match disappointed with the Breakers last minute goal forcing the game to end in a draw.
The Breakers are now 0-1-1 in league play.
