The Santa Cruz Breakers is a fictional soccer team I initially created in the PS3 PES 2009 created for Pro Evolution Soccer Series by Konami. The team and logo is based on a local soccer team in Santa Cruz, CA. Go Breakers!

D2 Cup: Round 1 / Match 1 Santa Cruz Breakers vs. Stade Rennais F.C.
The Santa Cruz Breakers hosted Round 1 / Match 1 of the D2 Cup against Stade Rennais F.C. of France.
All week, fans across the United States and all around the world came to visit the "Original Surf City" to watch the Breakers first D2 Cup match game here in Santa Cruz, California.
Stade Rennais Football Club, commonly known simply as Stade Rennais or Rennes, is a French association football club from the city of Rennes, who play in Ligue 1, the top French division, in 2008-09. It is the club's 49th season in the top flight of French football. Founded in 1901 as Stade Rennais Université Club they assumed their current name in 1971. In the same year, the club won its last notable trophy, the Coupe de France, defeating Olympique Lyonnais in the 1971 Final.
The first cup match against Stade Rennais F.C. began with the Breakers putting together a strong offensive attack and Kirby (13) scoring the first goal of the game at the 17'. The Breakers continued their offensive power with a second goal by Manning at the 30'. The fans were excited with what appeared to be a commanding 2-0 lead against Stade Rennais FC.
However, Stade Rennais F.C. scored a late goal before the half at the 45' to make it a 2-1 lead by the Breakers at the half.
The Breakers offensive power began as quick in the second half as it did the first with Sabatani scoring at the 48' allowing the Breakers to again feel more confident with a 3-1 lead.
Unfortunately, Stade Rennais F.C. was not ready to roll over as they came back with a quick goal of their own at the 52' to again make this a one goal 3-2 match in favor of the Breakers.
The Breakers defense stepped up and continued to battle Stade Rennais F.C. in all areas of the pitch.
The 3-2 Breakers lead seemed intact until the final minutes of the match when Stade Rennais F.C. scored the equalizing goal at the 87'. The fans went silent in disbelief that Stade Rennais FC's last minute goal has forced the Breakers into a draw instead of a win.
Although the first cup match was a draw, it was great to see the Breakers offensive capabilities come to light with 8 shots on goal. While their defensive break down in the final minutes was inexcusable, the Breakers defense did play strong for a 30 minte stretch. Breaker fans must see glimmer of hope from this draw!
