The Breakers have been knocked out of of the D2 Cup in the first round. This may actually be a blessing in disguise for them since it will allow the Breakers to focus on their league games.
The Breakers faced FC Zenit St. Petersburg next in Russia.
FC Zenit Saint Petersburg (Russian: ФК «Зeнит» Санкт-Петербург) is a Russian football club from Saint Petersburg. Founded in 1925 (or in 1914 according to some Russian sources), the club plays in the Russian Premier League and currently is the richest in the country, due to the the ownership of the club by Gazprom.
The match against FC Zenit Saint Petersburg was close to the very end. Neither team had scored a goal until the final few minutes of the match.
However, a bit of luck for FC Zenit St. Petersburg and as an initial shot was safely deflected, but the keep was than accidentally tripped up by his own teammate leading the first goal of the game at the 87'. The Breakers were frustrated and gave up a second goal at the 90+'.
The picture of Del Bene (16) in the back of the net was an amazing shot to show how he felt after tripping up Desi (5) the keeper leading to the first score of the match.
Although the game was well played and close until the final minutes, it's the Breakers defense that remained solid. The Breakers only had 2 shots on goal the whole match compared to 11 by their opponents.
The Breakers were outplayed the entire game and was fortunate to only lose 2-0.
